This article has been updated with the quote from Provost Kathy Ogren.

On Oct. 20, the University announced that Political Science Professor Steve Wuhs has been selected as the Interim Dean for the College of Arts and Sciences.

Wuhs’s role as Interim Dean will begin Jan. 1 and continue through June 30, 2022. The decision came after a nearly two-month search for Dean Kendrick Brown’s replacement in lieu of his departure from the University to Morehouse College early next year.

Asked about the qualities the university is looking for in the permanent dean, Provost Kathy Ogren said the following: “Many of the attributes are the same, however the interim dean is more focused on immediate transition and short term planning due to the length of the appointment than would be the case for a permanent dean.”
